Product: Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L USM Lens
I got the 24-105 f/4L IS USM a couple of years before I got the 24-70 f/2.8L lens, which I succumbed to when I wanted something with faster, more accurate AF in low light for indoor event and candid photography. This lens does not disappoint - the AF is appreciably faster and more accurate, in part due to the 1 stop maximum aperture advantage.
If you use this lens for tripod-mounted landscape work and hand-held flash work, you probably wont miss the lack of an IS and so it becomes a better option than the 24-105 for image quality (better contrast, colours and less distortion when used at the wider end of the focal length) and AF (speed and accuracy).
Its a bit of a brick but the size of it works well on a 1 series body as it feels very balanced. But a 1 series, this lens and a 580 EX II flash is quite a lump to carry for long periods (not a criticism but an observation tat might be useful to some readers).
